Aboriginal Bush Medicine 2 QC in Blue
Aboriginal Art is one of the more ancient traditional arts in the world, going back approximately 50,000 years. Initially a nomadic people, Aboriginals collect their food from a nature they revere and respect. The Aboriginal paintings portrayed on these fabrics honor this simple way of living, their ancestral lands and the ancient teachings of their forefathers while also illustrating the individual artist’s personal fears, frustrations and desires. Perfect for quilting, these gorgeous and varied designs perfectly compliment one another.
In every Aboriginal community across Austrailia you could find a Spiritual Doctor and a Medicine Man. The former heals ill by identifying spiritual discord while the latter administers the right medicinal plant and animal fat mix. (Animal fats aid in dissolving these medicinal herbs inside the body.) This quilting cotton, designed by artist Narelle Kitson, is a representation of the Bush Medicine doing it’s healing work.
