This super-fine 100-weight silk thread from Superior Threads is ideal for fine detail machine quilting, hand applique or invisible machine applique. What’s more, it’s Kate’s favorite for basting hems in place before sewing them by machine. Even after sewing over the top of this thread, you can easily pull out the basting stitches, making it perfect for temporarily holding fabric in place.  Recommended needles are Topstitch 70/10 or 80/12 for home machines & #14 (MR 3.0) for longarm machines.
