Learn to Sew: Pillowcase Class – October 16, 2026

Description: Are you interested in learning to sew? Our Learn to Sew Pillowcase Class is the place to start!

This pillowcase class is a gentle, hands-on introduction to sewing. You’ll learn the basics of sewing on a machine and leave with a finished project! Skills taught in this course: 

• The basics of using a sewing machine
• How to make sure a woven fabric is on-grain
• Sewing a straight seam with a sewing machine
• Adding a cuff using the burrito method
• Pivoting at corners
• Sewing French seams
• Pressing

Date/Time: Friday, October 16, 2026, 3:30pm – 5:30pm

Teacher: Claire Wilbert

Students Bring: 

• 7/8 of a yard of quilting cotton for the pillowcase body
• 1/3 yard of quilting cotton for the cuff

Students will receive a 15% discount on class supplies bought in person at Confident Stitch. Please arrive 15 minutes before class to pick out and purchase your fabrics.

Materials Included with Registration: Use of our classroom sewing machines, sewing tools, and pressing surfaces. Participants also receive free, lifetime access to the Sew Your Own Pillowcase tutorial (available for purchase here). This tutorial recaps the skills taught during the course and ensures you can recreate the sewing process at home!  

Skill Level: Beginner. No previous sewing experience needed!

Age Range: 16+. Teens 13-16 may attend with an adult who is also registered for the class.

Location: This is an in-person class at Confident Stitch, located at 139 W. Front St, Missoula, MT
