Nikko Square Stitch Cotton in Dark Truffle

$11.80

This free-trade, medium weight cotton from India has a beautiful texture.

It is more loosely woven than a quilting cotton, which gives it a soft drape that is perfect for tops, dresses, shirts, and more.

Pre-wash. Shrinks 2% crosswise and 5% lengthwise.

Sold by the yard.

Jacquard Quilted Cotton in Deep Rust

$33.92

New from Merchant and Mills, this Soft Stitch Jacquard Quilted Cotton is absolutely swoon-worthy!

A medium-weight quilted garment cotton – made from 100% BCI cotton -, the wrong side of this jacquard has a gauzy/ French terry feel, while the right side is soft and fine. There is no batting in the middle of this cloth, rather the inside is made up of a series of thicker yarns which – in conjunction with the running stitch Matelassé weaving technique – gives it its quilted feel.

Almost like a heavy-weight double gauze, we can imagine an amazing Tamarack Jacket, an oversized Linden Sweatshirt, a set of throw pillows, or even a quilt back made from this luxurious cotton.

If possible we would advise overlocking your raw edges before sewing to prevent fraying.

  • 120cm wide. (approx. 47″)
  • Approx. 500gsm.
  • This fabric is prewashed.
  • Made in India.
  • We recommend not using this for something that will sit in direct sunlight or the color will fade.
  • Wash cool. Do not tumble. Shake out and dry flat. Iron cool.

Riverbend Canvas in Sepia

$17.90

Riverbend, a hand-drawn collection by Anna Graham, was inspired by living alongside the La Crosse River in the fall.

Printed on Robert Kaufman’s tried and true Big Sur Canvas, this fabric fuses tactical with beautiful. At 9.6 oz. per square yard, Big Sur Canvas is heavier than many denims, which are typically 8 oz. It is 100% cotton and has a visible weave.

Partner with a complimentary solid in a Noodlehead Firefly Tote, rock a pair of printed Quinn Pants, or wear it as an Iflord Jacket. The possibilities are endless.

Sold by the yard.

Wool/Nylon Melton in Light Pink

$33.90

This Wool/Nylon Melton from B. Black & Sons is charming with its subtly visible weave. At 14 oz/yard, this wool blend is quite versatile. It would make a great pair of pants, a lovely full skirt, or a lightweight jacket.

We suggest making a Shepherd Skirt, a pair of Quinn Pants, or an Ilford Jacket with this fabric, any of which could be made heavier with the addition of a lining fabric.

Sold by the yard, this fabric comes in multiple colors.

Dry Cotton Oilskin in Oxblood

$40.35

This high quality dry oilskin, made in the UK, is drier and crisper than other oilskins, (and less waxy than a traditional waxed cotton) with a matt appearance.

A water resistant (though not water proof) fabric, Dry Oilskin is treated with an emulsified wax. This binds a wax-based product with water to give a non-oily finish, then the solutions are heat-processed into the cloth for a longer lasting finish and higher performance. Plus, the finish is vegan!

Use this gorgeous fabric to make any Klum House bag, a M&M Landgate Jacket or a beautiful, lined Thayer Jacket!

DETAILS

  • Hand wash only.
  • Use a cool setting on your iron.
  • Unlike normal oilskin there would be no oil transfer so you don’t need to line your garment or bag.
  • After consistent use, you can easily ‘re-proof’ the water resistance using Merchant & Mills Reproofing Spray.

There is nothing like being able to see and feel fabric in person. The information I was able to access related to each selection was so valuable as I begin to sew again and become acquainted with new techniques, patterns, and notions.”

The swatch service is awesome! I have received both cool and warm tones twice now and really enjoyed all of the swatches. It is nice to be able to touch and feel the fabric and see the colors before deciding. Also the pattern suggestions are very helpful. Thank you to The Confident Stitch!”

How awesome is this for all sewists???!!! Swatches delivered to your door so you can feel them, dream about some makes, plan a capsule wardrobe for the season, and get a discount to boot. I live in a rural area and fabric shopping is difficult so this is just brilliant. Highly recommend the service!
