Sewing Workshop Cortona Blouse in Frou Frou Voile

Happy Me in My Cortona Blouse

To showcase Frou Frou voiles and bias tapes, Bonnie, our shop seamstress, made a Sewing Workshop Cortona blouse for me. I love it so much! As always, Linda Lee at The Sewing Workshop has created a flattering design with creative darts and gathering. She and her team know how to take a complex idea and communicate it in a simple manner through well-placed dots, clear instructions, and beautiful illustrations.

The Sewing Workshop Cortona Blouse has Hidden Surprises

This pattern has vertical bust darts extending from a contour seam, but never fear, just connect the dots, and everything fits together beautifully. The illustration on the envelope makes the shirt look boxy, but it’s not! We have this shirt on our try-on rack in the shop (if I’m not wearing it). When a customer tries it on, I take a picture from the back to show her the mini-peplum created by the contour seam and gathers, which usually seals the deal!

The Fabric is also a Hidden Gem!

Doesn’t the fabric look like Liberty of London? It’s actually a French Voile from a company called Frou Frou. AND, it’s on sale for $18.90 per yard for all of October. In fact, all our voiles and double gauzes are 10% off this month. We have 14 Frou Frou Voiles, and bias tapes to match. Frou Frou, a notions company, sold fabric to American shops for a couple of years, but they no longer do. Luckily, we have a lot of it, so you’ll be able to enjoy it for a while before it runs out!
